    55th Reunion and Beyond

    Barnard Class of 1962

  • Continuing our Conversation with President Rosenbury

On September 18, we had a second dialogue via Zoom with President Rosenbury, where she spoke about new policies the college administration has developed, and answered several of our questions. We greatly appreciate the necessarily limited time she gave us. We followed with a letter and further questions from class co-president Roxanne Fischer.

  • We Respond to Campus Unrest

At an extra Class of 1962 Open House Zoom on May 22, we prepared a letter to President Rosenbury

    Dear President Rosenbury,

Welcome to Barnard. You certainly have come at a challenging time.

Members of the Class of 1962 have met on zoom to discuss the current situation on campus. Several spoke about their granddaughters currently at Barnard who had very frightening experiences.

We agreed that action steps are needed, and have come up with a number of ideas that we would like to discuss with you on a zoom call at your convenience.

These ideas have been copied by me from emails as sent.

The full letter from the class is attached here. Members of the Class of 1962 are eager to meet with you on zoom to discuss these ideas and learn your thoughts on these matters. Please let us know what times would work for you. Our zooms have been on Wednesdays at 4:00 PM Eastern time but we will be available at your convenience.

Many thanks for all you do for Barnard. It is our goal to help you.

  • Barbara Weinberg Scholarship Fund

Our late classmate Barbara Weinberg established the H. Barbara Kallman Weinberg

and Michael B. Weinberg Scholarship Fund at Barnard to provide student

financial aid, as well as student internship support as a secondary preference.

While Barbara created the Weinberg Scholarship with an initial gift, she also

provided for additional support through her estate to establish a permanent,

endowed Weinberg Scholarship. The principal of an endowed fund is

invested; every year, a percentage is awarded as financial aid scholarship to

Barnard students (currently the spend out is 5%). The Building Barnard

scholarship endowment is a top priority of the College.

Alumnae from all classes, as well as friends and family, may give to the

Weinberg Scholarship. Please see two ways to do so below.

To make a gift remembering Barbara, a check payable to Barnard

College may be mailed to Barnard College, Box AS, 3009 Broadway, NY, NY

10027. Please write in the memo line or on a separate note Weinberg

Scholarship Fund. Gifts may also be made online.

    Please indicate Weinberg Scholarship Fund.
